tag2find v0.8.3.2 is out

Friday, January 26th, 2007

Tag Logo 80x80Today we are releasing another small bug fix release in the 0.8 branch (sign in for download). We received only a few error reports, so we conclude that it is running quite stable, which we are happy about.

Fixed bugs in this release:

  • unhandled exception when trying to manually submit feedback using the feedback wizard
  • a very rare race-condition when canceling certain long-running tasks
  • major speed improvements when adding tags in the “Edit Tags” page in TagBrowser to a large number of files

Next steps:

Work on v0.10 is already commencing quite well. Basic tag-suggestions for initial tagging have already been realized, we are now working on getting the new file notification working properly and user-friendly.

tag2find v0.8.2.1 is out

Friday, January 19th, 2007

Tag Logo 80x80Today we released v0.8.2.1 of tag2find (download). It is a minor bug-fix release based on the feedback and errors submitted to us.

Fixed bugs:

  • Crash after restarting from hibernation.
  • An “Edit tags…” context menu entry for Windows Explorer, which allows editing in the TagBrowser instead of just adding tags in the Floating TagBox.
  • Crash of the service when turning back system time.
  • Improved error handling for recoverable errors.
  • Several other minor bug fixes.

Regarding the issue of restarting from hibernation, please report to us if the fix works for you. We had quite some trouble fixing it as we could not reproduce it on our computers, and additionally the bug seems to be inside of the .NET framework, as it does not involve any of our code. Any feedback regarding this issue is highly appreciated! Please use the Feedback Wizard or email us at contact@tagfind.com.

We will now immediately start working on the features scheduled for v0.10. There are no further 0.8.x bug-fix releases planned, but we will introduce them if required.

Storms in Austria – Loss of E-Mail Connectivity

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

Austria, as several other countries in Western and Central Europe, is currently experiencing heavy storms. Unfortunately our main office in Hagenberg is currently in an area without power supply, because several power lines have been damaged by the storm. As a consequence we are currently cut off e-mails.

Therefore we do not receive any support queries and feedbacks from the feedback wizard. None of these mails, however, should be lost and will reach us as soon as the power and internet connections are restored.

We will keep you informed.

Update 2007-01-19 (08:00 CET): Power has been restored around midnight. All servers are up again and the delayed mails should come in within the next few hours.

Happy Birthday, Marc!

Goals for 2007!

Friday, January 12th, 2007

yanella.png We have finished a year and are starting a new one and at the start of the year it is usual to plan all the goals that we want to achieve for this year even if we haven’t achieved the goals of 2006! The most common goals that I think are always in a list are for example to start a new diet to try to lose weight from Christmas, to try to be more punctual, to find your Prince Charming, to try to stop drinking or smoking….

In my case, my first goal for this year will be to learn German but unfortunately I have to confess that this was one of my goals in 2006 but in the end I couldn’t manage it… and now if I start with my justifications like: it is a very difficult language, I don’t have time to study, the Austrians speak very good English so I don’t need to learn German and so on and so on….

Another goal will be try to travel to Venezuela when I have time. I don’t visit my country and even if I feel good in Spain and now living here in Austria sometimes I need to be in contact with my native people and more when I know that a lot of things have charged since I was there.

goals-2007.jpgI think it is very clear that another goal will be to try to do my best work here in tag2find like marketing and to try to improve every day – of course my list doesn’t finish here but I prefer to keep the other things to myself ;-)!

So…. what are your goals for 2007?

tag2find v0.8.1.4 is out

Saturday, January 6th, 2007

Tag Logo 80x80After the storm of feedback which reached us after the TechCrunch article was posted, we are now pleased to announce that we fixed the most important bugs of 0.8.0 and that we are now able to release version 0.8.1.4 of tag2find as a minor upgrade. This version is now available to all our approved members of the technical preview program. Other users are welcome to sign up!
I’d like to thank all members of our technical preview program who helped us by submitting feedback. Thank you, guys!

As promised, we will now also approve the next bunch of users for the technical preview program. Due to the unexpected high number of requests, it can take some time to approve you all. Thank you for your patience.

I hope you stay with us and help us further improve tag2find. Considering the upcoming features for v0.10, which we expect to publish end of January, I’m sure it’s worth it.
